Other information we collect may include information you provided to us through various means, including but not limited to communication language preferences, demographic data, and interests and opinions through our registered surveys. We use this information to:

  • Allow us to address issues reported by users, including for troubleshooting, support, optimization, and security breach reviews, or to restore lost data.

  • Any public authority if required by law, or to defend our rights, or otherwise in accordance with the law. If ŌWOW must disclose information or provide a copy to a government agency under a law or court order, ŌWOW will attempt to notify you in advance to the extent permitted by law.
  • Companies providing anti-money laundering and terrorist financing verification, credit risk reduction, fraud and crime prevention services, including financial institutions, credit rating agencies, and regulatory bodies with which such personal information is shared.
  1. Hyperlinks and Third Parties

The website may contain sharing or publishing options or links to third-party websites or platforms. By using or activating these links or features, you leave the website and your browsing becomes subject to the terms of use and privacy policy of those third parties. We have no control over these third-party platforms, and the fact that they are listed on the website does not in any way engage our responsibility.

We strive to maintain the necessary physical, administrative, and technical security measures at our offices and information storage centers. ŌWOW takes reasonable measures to protect your personal information transmitted during your use of the website, including when you submit an online financing application or complete an online purchase. Specifically, ŌWOW uses technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against loss or theft, as well as against unauthorized access and disclosure, both internally and externally. However, no security mechanism is perfect, and you should be aware that there is always some risk of a security breach. ŌWOW disclaims any liability for the disclosure of such information about you, except in cases of negligence on the part of ŌWOW. To reduce the risk of a security breach, no credit card information is stored on the servers used by the website.

All data collected through your use of the website is generally stored on servers located in Quebec. However, data may be processed by third-party service providers of ŌWOW located outside Quebec to enable them to fulfill mandates on behalf of ŌWOW. In such cases, ŌWOW takes reasonable measures to ensure that these third parties are bound by appropriate protective measures, including contractual ones.

  1. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to know the purpose of ŌWOW’s collection and processing of your personal information, as well as the right to access, update, and correct that information. You may withdraw your consent to ŌWOW’s use and retention of your personal information at any time. However, in such cases, you may no longer be able to use certain features of the website. You also have the right, as applicable, to request: (i) that ŌWOW cease disseminating, de-index or re-index your personal information; or (ii) as of September 22, 2024, that your computerized personal information collected from you be communicated to you in a commonly used technological format, as well as to any person or entity authorized by law to collect such information. This right does not extend to information that was created or inferred from your personal information, and we are not required to communicate such information if it raises serious practical difficulties. If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or seek redress before the courts.

ŌWOW will generally respond to all access requests within 30 days of receiving all necessary information. Where we are unable to provide access, or if we need more time to respond to a request, we will notify you in writing. Based on exemptions provided by applicable law, ŌWOW may not be able to disclose certain types of information. To the extent possible, we will sever the information that will not be disclosed and give you access to the remaining information. If we are unable to provide access to or communicate personal information, we will provide an explanation, subject to restrictions. In certain circumstances, such as when a request is excessive or unfounded, we may charge administrative fees for access to your personal information. We may also charge for additional copies. We will inform you of any applicable fees before acting on a request.

ŌWOW is responsible for communicating this policy and ensuring that its employees fully comply with all relevant aspects of the notice and its accompanying guidelines.
The functional or infrastructure units that process personal information are responsible for ensuring that these activities comply with this policy.
Our Privacy Officer (i) develops ŌWOW’s personal information protection strategy; (ii) designs and maintains the notice, its accompanying guidelines, and any other information-related policies or procedures; and (iii) serves as the official liaison with federal and provincial commissioners.
